Supervisor/Mentor
Certification must be pursued, passed and maintained.
This is a supervisory management position. It requires dedication to building and managing a business unit. An individual in this capacity must want to function in a leadership and staff development role.
The first responsibility of promotion to this position is to maintain and increase the level of personal sales volume. This takes priority over supervisory functions. Any interruption or impediment in the ability to focus on their personal productivity as they begin this assignment should be immediately brought to ones Manager. The Manager will assist in organization and planning to accomplish this goal. Evolution to staff management is a complex step, it is the function of the Manager to support, educate and assist in this growth.
Position requires the supervision, training & development and sales management of new and developing staff. The Supervisor/Mentor must be prepared to accept the function of building a business unit for which they bear responsibility. It would require the ability to establish valid and profitable goals and the investment of necessary thought, time and energy to accomplish those goals.
The Supervisor/Mentor will work closely with their manager to accomplish their purpose. This is a beginning supervisory position and as such is at learning position. It is important to communicate closely with the assigned manager in planning, evaluation, philosophy and implementation.
Major functions are:
- 1. Successfully continue own sales activities
- 2. Client Management and development
- 3. Business Planning – A written business plan
- 4. Staff motivation, education and training
- 5. Suggest improvements to new staff training and orientation
- 6. Conduct regular and planned staff meetings
- 7. Participate in interviewing for staff
- 8. Input into hire/fire decisions
- 9. Think
- 10. Be Set an example for staff
- 11. Enforce company policies and directives
- 12. Participate in peer discussions
- 13. Attend all assigned outside functions
- 14. Work to educate self – Continued self improvement
- 15. Prepare for the next career step
The Supervisor/Mentor is expected to present a personal appearance and demeanor that befits their position and purpose. This role personifies the image of the organization and a person in this position is expected and required to conform to that image.
