Our
Client is looking for a Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager to direct the material flow from the supplier to the customer,
within our facilities. This includes but is not limited to purchasing,
inventory control with the maximization of inventory turns, planning
of production through an MRP system, receiving materials, movement
within and between the facilities. The position will plan the master
schedules to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation
to meet shipping dates according to the sales forecast or customer
requirements. The candidate will change schedules to compensate
for delays and unforeseen conditions. They will also confer with
department supervisors concerning workflow, material shortages
and production sequences to assure timely delivery of product.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Ensure proper levels of Inventory are in each
step of the production flow to maximize turns in raw, WIP, and
finished product.
• Directs logistics operations
• Negotiate outside secondary supplier contracts
• Apply logical thinking to solve a wide range of intellectual
and practical problems
• Supervise employees as assigned to follow all procedures
including the required paper work for feedback and development.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining all logistics,
inbound and outbound, including all shipping and warehousing activities
including VMI (vendor managed inventory)
• Direct delivery promises on incoming orders; match
actual requirements with the master schedule as they materialize.
• Maintain plant schedules as it relates to “drop-ins”
or “push-outs” of customer materials to maximize material flow.
• Actively participate in the NPI process.
• Direct the review safety stock levels for production
parts.
• Supervise or initiate stock replacement purchase
requests.
• Over see the preparation of shipping paperwork to
include NAFTA when required.
• Manage physical inventory to maximize turns.
• Lead the efforts of material improvement and process
redesign.
• Responsible for maximizing inventory turns while
developing scheduling processes that strive to reduce overall product
lead times.
• Provides day-to-day leadership to the materials and
production planning staff.
• Develops visual scheduling tools and methods.
• Oversees the scheduling of outside contracted services
in a manner that links to the overall production plan and customer
demand.
• Participates as a key member of the plant leadership
team.
• Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the
job demands as listed above.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration
or related field with APICS certification, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in planning, purchasing,
shipping / receiving, scheduling, planning capacity, inventory
control, and MRP in a manufacturing environment.
• Use of ERP System is required.
• Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel
and Access.
• Experience with QAD operating system a plus.
• Experience with pull systems and Kan Ban is a prerequisite.
• Requires excellent interpersonal and communications
skills.
• Requires great listening skills.
• Requires the ability to resolve scheduling issues.
• Must be able to make strong decisions.
• Must have a good ability to multitask and schedule
day well, having a sense of urgency and confidentiality to meet
deadlines.
• Must be a self motivator who pays attention to detail
and can work independently or as a team.
• Must see customer delivery requirements as a positive
way to satisfy the customer.
