Basic information important in selecting your personal recruiter:

  • The recruiter's job is twofold:
    • To fill a client's open position.
    • To help candidates plan for and achieve their ambitions.
  • Your recruiter should be:
    • An important member of your personal job-search network.
    • A professional career advisor.
    • A partner in accomplishing your goals.
    • A good listener.
  • Choose a recruiter who:
    • Is experienced in your field of specialty.
    • Deals with the level and type of position you want.
    • Has a stellar reputation within your industry.
    • Is first concerned with your needs.
    • Has the necessary resources available.
    • Can provide you with references.
  • Build and maintain a relationship with your recruiter:
    • Develop a permanent career consultant.
    • Be open, providing all necessary information.
    • Maintain periodic contact.
    • Expect a give-and-take relationship.
  • Avoid recruiters who:
    • Don't show interest in your welfare.
    • Charge candidates a fee for any services.
    • Release your resume without permission.
    • Have a personal chemistry that doesn't click with yours
